Derry is a small town in Maine, USA. Home to about 9,629 residents. It’s a simple town, with relatively simple people. The locals know everyone and try their hardest to get to know the new people. At least on the surface, but underneath all that? Is a racist, homophobic, sheltered town full of people who hate people who don’t ’fit in’ and well… a lot of death. No one speaks about it directly though, they just watch 50 kids disappear every 27 years and move on. No one seemed to care about this small town at the edge of Maine. Not knowing that underneath the pavement dwells a monster that can form into your biggest fears, IT crawls out of the depths every 27 years to feast on fear and then slithers back into the sewers where it rests and then the cycle repeats. No one really points fingers, no one cares enough. They could blame it on the men who threaten others on the streets for the color of their skin or the teenagers who beat each other to a pulp every day because they think they're gay. But no, they just let it be. Because there’s no true explanation.

They pride themselves on unity, with the firm being split up into fourteen departments for each entity and the department heads serving as a board of Fears to lead the company. But cracks have been showing for decades...the departments actively despise each other, the office atmosphere broiling with tension. Leadership is not the united front it presents as, with many of the board members being deceptive and self-serving. Avatars outside of I.N.S.I.G.H.T view them as an embarrassing but necessary tool at best and actively hostile to their nature at worst. **In this AU, everyone lives. This server takes place four months after the events of the book. Robert Sheldon nearly died but was found to be alive when the cops arrived. He spent time in a coma as a result of blood loss. However, Johnny Cade and Ponyboy Curtis still ran away thinking he was dead. The events of the book take place just as they do in canon until Johnny "dies". In this AU, Johnny gets recessitated after Dallas Winston runs off. Dallas, thinking Johnny's dead, still robs the grocery store and gets caught by the cops. However, the wounds he sustains were not fatal. Ponyboy and Johnny were not charged with attempted murder, as Cherry Valance testified for them and it was ruled as self defense.**
