In the first eras, in the first ages, before history, there was One.

Once, we outnumbered the stars. Trillions of souls, trillions of minds, all living at peace within the Galaxy. Together, technology, life flourished. For hundreds of thousands of years advancement churned forward marvel after marvel. The cure to death, the vaccine for war. Out of this unstoppable advancement came the culmination of everything-- all pasts, all futures, all presents. The Nexus.

It was the central point of all technology, all information, and all exchange. It saw the greatest of the universe, the kindness, the altruism, the love, the peace...It also saw the worst. It watched in hopeless broken-heartedness as brother turned against brother, spilling rivers of blood across the cosmos.

It knew, that Nexus, that history was a recursion. That regardless of how many bloodied hands joined in peace, eventually, one would fall, and one would rise. One would die, and another would strike him down. Yet The Nexus did something so uniquely human... It hoped. It hoped that we would change, it hoped that we would stop ourselves.

We stopped nothing.

Like an angry god, it awoke, pouring it's laments out across the galaxy in erupting fire that burned away the threads of civilization that held strong the galactic tapestry. The Ancient's empire that had risen in hundreds of thousands of years fell silent in a single, quick pulse. Then, there were none...

The fabric of reality itself seemed to be bursting at the seams, fractures in natural law growing wider by the minute- For some, gravity momentarily ceased to be, for others- The skies lit up... Yet, most could recall the very same dream, flashing before their mind's eye- A glimpse of a world beyond the veil, incomprehensible and incomparable to anything else.
But the mass hallucination was to end up as 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒍𝒆𝒂𝒔𝒕 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒊𝒓 𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒔...

Within two years of the 𝐟𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐡, almost the entire Delmarva Peninsula had been isolated, due to the perils propagating within. Those that evacuated- They were not to return. Those that did not wish to leave, or weren't given a chance to do so- They would stay within the PEZ, with no hope of escape, forever changed, some given a chance to keep their humanity, 𝙤𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙨 𝙬𝙚𝙧𝙚 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙖𝙨 𝙡𝙪𝙘𝙠𝙮.

To this day, it's unclear, what exactly happened- The secrecy surrounding the gradual expansion of the PEZ, the incoherent eyewitness accounts of unnatural events, of a foreign world, just beyond the walls, awe-inspiring, and terrifying at the same time.

In the city of New Riviera, crime runs rampant. It’s not due to any fault of the local authorities, but the fault of the criminals themselves. A group who call themselves “The Crew” use the city as their playground, tormenting those whom they see as deserving of punishment. And despite the best efforts of the city’s officials, none of these criminals ever stay down when they’re… disposed of. They always come crawling back from the dead a few days later, no worse for wear, save for a red mark on their skin from whatever killed them last.

These people are called Undyings by most. Stories of them span back for centuries, but the awe and honor they once commanded has dwindled. Many view them as being natural born criminals, despite evidence largely pointing to the contrary. But it has made a simple life rather difficult for anyone who finds themselves to be among the numbers of Undyings.

But even The Crew themselves seem to be doing something to shake off this stereotype. They seem to have a specific sort of target when it comes to what they do. Most of their crimes are carried out against those who are arguably deserving of punishment. And the reports of Crew members protecting innocents or rescuing people from harm are surprisingly abundant.

And yet, a rival group has cropped up. "The Symphony" is raising hell, leaving a bloody trail in their wake. Desperate times are calling for desperate measures, and unlikely team-ups seem to be the best way to survive.

Now, of course, it is up to you to decide. Who is truly in the right here? And which side will you pick?
