The Sanctuary exists in a “pocket dimension”, or underground society, away from the public eye. Within the bounds of the Sanctuary, compasses and GPS systems meant for use outside of the Sanctuary cease to operate as they should, and there is no place on Earth the Sanctuary could possibly exist.

The magical culture within Alentia’s Sanctuary necessitates complete secrecy after the effects of a war centuries past, and those in power within this underground society do their best to keep things under complete wraps. In the last several hundred years in the mortal world, magic has been kept from mortals by way of the community’s Veil, an illusory covering of all magic that exists to hide magic from mortals, altering senses and memories to maintain the status quo of a nonmagical, unexceptional, world, place, and experience.
