The fall of the world happened in the summer of 2020 due to a rapid outbreak of a virus called the Interitus virus, it's likely believed amongst many doctors and scientists that it is a sort of "super rabies" that has a high rate of infection and it's mortality rate has surpassed that of some of the deadliest plagues that humanity has encountered. The virus had originally broken out in a rural town in Michigan USA, where it was misdiagnosed as a new version of the cold flu. Before long nearly half of Michigan had been quarantined off. The quarantine had worked for a while as FEMA would airdrop vaccines to survivors inside the quarantine zone to help quell the rapidly spreading infection, but that would only last about a month before the infection would rapidly mutate making the vaccine almost practically useless against the infecion and managed to break through the militaries quarantine. As another quarantine would be set up vaccines would be dropped and the infection adapting again and breaking through, this would repeat. Scenes like this would pop up throughout the US and 3 months after Michigan it would also start popping up in other countries.
