As Sunrise arrives, all of the clans have fallen into deep grief. Though the sky is as beautiful and golden as ever, no clan has any appreciation for their homes. Over the past moon, every leader died due to a mysterious new sickness deemed by the Medicine Cats as Silvercough at their last meeting.

After the clan deputies travel to the moonstone, all clans but one are denied their lives by Starclan— Brook Clan, Valley Clan, Cave Clan, and Talon Clan….. all but Cliff Clan.

No clan understands why their leaders fell ill with this ailment, and Starclan is not providing any prophecies or omens to the Medicine cats, leaving all confused and worried.

Starclan gives only the vaguest of omens.
'The ones who hide in the dark' and ‘Cleanse your actions'.

* THE BEGINNING . . . *
After centuries of tales of five clans in the forest, two cats named Trout and Briar gathered their two opposing groups into the territories of the river bends and promised a new start, a new home, a future… to be like the cats in those stories. They named their clans after themselves, dawning new names and nine lives, now as Troutstar and Briarstar.

Troutstar was a large mousy brown tom, with the swiftness of a trout swimming in the ocean, with eyes like the skies and claws that could kill those who even looked. Briarstar on the other hand, was a lanky ebony colored she-cat with sharp eyes as dark as a foxes heart, able to hide in her territories murky waters and attack you when you least expected it. The two cats used to be good friends, more than friends.. but their egos got the best of them, as any empire does.

Troutstar and Briarstar would make sure the two clans would never cross paths, only at gatherings, the only time they were civil, but moons and moons after they were gone, the hostile terms still remained.. And now, as the harshness of the world outside of the clans rises, war is brewing… and which cats will survive the rivers thorns?
