The Lore:

In 1995, Japan’s economic bubble has burst, but the Yakuza still thrive. The Tojo Clan and the Omi Alliance dominate the underworld, exploiting civilians and maintaining legitimate business stakes.

Yet, peace is disrupted by one tragic event that divides the Tojo Clan.

On a stormy night in Kamurocho’s red-light district, Kazuma Kiryu takes the fall for his sworn brother, Akira Nishikiyama, after Nishikiyama murders their Patriarch, Sohei Dojima, who attempted to assault Yumi, a friend raised with them in the Sunflower orphanage. Kiryu, sentenced to ten years, loses his clan membership and is separated from the world he knew.

Meanwhile, Nishikiyama, now leading his own family, struggles under the weight of responsibility, superiors’ criticisms, disrespect from his men, and personal loss, including Yumi’s sudden disappearance and his sister’s death. These trials threaten to reshape him completely.
